Curry leaf is an essential ingredient in Indian cooking especially in South India cooking . The curry tree (Murraya koenigii)  is native to India and Sri Lanka and Its leaves are part of most of Indian recipes.
Curry leaves are used in many dishes in India .Often used in curries, the leaves are generally called by the name "curry leaves", though they are also translated as "sweet neem leaves" in most India languages.  Curry leaf has many medicinal properties. It stimulates digestive enzymes and helps break down food more easily.

Health Benefits of Curry Leaves or kadi patta 
  1. Have a glass of buttermilk mixed with a little hing (asafoetida) with a few curry leaves thrown after meal for good digestion. The presence of antioxidants, vitamins and alkaloids in curry leaves helps in promoting health of digestive system.
  2. Reduces congestion in the chest and nose If you suffer from a wet cough, sinusitis or chest congestion, kadi patta is a very effective home remedy to relieve the symptoms.
  3.  Cholesterol control: The antioxidants present in curry leaves help in controlling the LDL or bad cholesterol and aid in increasing the HDL or good cholesterol levels
  4. A good remedy for nausea and indigestion. Extract juice of curry leaves, squeeze a lime and add a pinch of sugar. 
  5. Chew a few leaves every day to lose weight.
  6.  Better eyesight: Curry leaves are a good source of vitamin A and it is one of the most important components for maintaining good eyesight. Taking fresh curry leaves on a daily basis promotes good eyesight.
  7. Curry leaves are also good for hair growth and color. This will prevent pre mature greying of hair. Alternatively, you can also add a few curry leaves to your hair oil and boil it for a few minutes. Applying this hair tonic will keep your hair healthy. 
  8. Diarrhoea:  curry leaves play an important role in controlling diarrhoea. For this purpose, curry leaves can be taken either as juice or as a freshly ground paste.
  9. Helps heal and reduce skin infections, beat early ageing and rid your skin of blemishes.
  10. Curry leaf has many medicinal properties. It stimulates digestive enzymes and helps break down food more easily.

Curry leaves are known by different names all over the world, for instance, in Germany they are known as curryblatter, in Spanish – Hoja and in French – Feuilles de cari.
