Semiya Payasam | Vermicelli Payasam | Vermicelli Gheer , How to make Payasam

Wish you a Happy Tamil New Year! Semiya payasam is a South Indian dessert served with South Indian Meals. This dessert is very popular one and it can be served almost in all the South Indian weddings. 

This is a simple and quick dessert that can be made with very few ingredients such as vermicelli, milk and sugar. You can make this in 15 mins and you can surprise your guests  so.

Method of Preparation

1. Heat a pan , add 1 tbsp of ghee in it and fry the cashew nuts and raisins until golden brown  keep it aside. In the same pan add another tsp of ghee and fry the vermicelli until little brown. 

2. Boil 1 1/2 cup to 2 cups of water and pour this to the vermicelli. Mix well and let them cook until soft.

3. When it cooked well add the sugar and a pinch of salt and allow it to dissolves in it. Keep stirring on when sugar dissolves completely then add the cardamom powder. Add the fried cashew nuts and raisins mix well.

4. In this stage you can the boiled milk or you can add the boiled milk at the time of serving. Mix well and serve Hot.

Note :

1. Milk should be added at the time of serving get perfect payasam consistency. If you add before it become more thicker.

2. Adding 1 tbsp of badam powder will enhances the taste of payasam its purely optional.

3.You can add condensed milk by reducing milk to get more richer payasam.
