Nellikai sadam | How to make Gooseberry rice , Rice Recipes


Gooseberry has lot of benefits.A single gooseberry contains 20 times more vitamin C than that of an orange. It helps to prevent cold and cough if included in our diet regularly. It also helps to remove toxins from our body. It's the only fruit that has six tastes. Add regularly in you diet ,it never lose the vitamins when u cooked. Try the simple and easy but very healthy rice. It quite same like lemon rice with good taste.. As we can pack it for lunch or you can do with left over rice...











Method:



1.Grate the gooseberry using carrot grater.Discard the seeds.

2. Cook  rice Separately


3. Take 2 cups of cooked rice, add a tsp of sesame seed oil and spread it on a plate to cool. You can use leftover rice also for this.

4. Heat a tbsp of oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, when it splutters,add peanuts(optional), add Channa Dal (Bengal gram), Urad Dal and hing.

5. Saute until peanuts and Dal turns golden brown, then add green chili, ginger, curry leaves, turmeric powder and saute for a few seconds.

6. Now add grated gooseberry, salt needed and cook for a minute.

7. Add the cooked rice and mix gently add salt as needed. Switch off the flame.

8. Serve hot with any papads, chips , potato poriyal or any spicy poriyal. Today I served with Channa sundal.
 

Note : You can add more grated gooseberry according to your taste. You can also add cashews nuts instead of peanuts.
